Product introduction

Macphylline SR 200 Tablet is used to treat and prevent symptoms of asthma, bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (a lung disorder in which airflow to the lung is blocked). It helps relax the muscles of the air passages, thus widening them and making them easier to breathe.

Macphylline SR 200 Tablet can be taken with the food in the evening. Take it at the same time every day to get the most benefit. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you take it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. Do not miss even a single dose. If missed, take it as soon as you remember, or skip the missed dose and continue with regular dosing if it's almost time for the next dose. It does not work immediately or prevent the already-started breathing trouble; hence, always carry your medical inhaler for an emergency.

The most common side effects of this medicine include abdominal discomfort, abdominal distension, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and heartburn. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, it is advised not to consume alcohol or do not smoke while on treatment.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart-related disease. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking, as many may make this medicine less effective or change its effect. Before starting the treatment, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Breast feeding

CAUTION

Macphylline SR 200 Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from the body.

What if you forget to take Macphylline Tablet SR?

If you miss a dose of Macphylline SR 200 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Macphylline SR 200 Tablet for prevention and treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
It should be taken at the same time each day, preferably in the evening after food.
It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler with you.
Your doctor may take regular blood test to monitor potassium level and the level of this medicine in your body.
Notify your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney, liver or heart disease, or if you have a smoking history. Your dose may need to be adjusted.

When should Macphylline SR 200 Tablet be avoided?

Macphylline SR 200 Tablet should be avoided in patients who are allergic to ambroxol, Macphylline SR 200 Tablet, or theophylline. Along with that, patients suffering from low blood pressure, irregular heart beats or rhythm or history of heart attack, liver disease or kidney disorder should avoid taking Macphylline SR 200 Tablet.

How should Macphylline SR 200 Tablet be taken?

Macphylline SR 200 Tablet should be taken strictly as advised by the doctor. To avoid an upset stomach it should be taken with food.

Is it okay to take furosemide along with Macphylline SR 200 Tablet?

One should take proper caution if you are taking furosemide along with Macphylline SR 200 Tablet. This is because the combined use of these medicines may decrease the levels of potassium. Hence, regular monitoring of potassium levels is required.

Does birth control pills have any effect on Macphylline SR 200 Tablet?

If you are taking birth control pills, dose of Macphylline SR 200 Tablet need to be reduced as birth control pills may interfere with clearance of Macphylline SR 200 Tablet, increasing its levels and chances of side effects.

Is Macphylline SR 200 Tablet the same as theophylline?
