Overview

Introduction of Lota Tablet

Lota 10 mg Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. It is used in the treatment of various allergic conditions. It relieves symptoms like itching, swelling and rashes.

Lota 10 mg Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach. The dose may vary depending on what you are taking it for. Take it as it has been prescribed by your doctor. You may need this medicine only on days you have symptoms, or you may need to take it every day to prevent symptoms from happening. If you stop taking it earlier than advised, your symptoms may come back.  This medicine is generally very safe.

As compared to other similar medications, it is much less likely to make you feel sleepy. But, it may cause some amount of dizziness, so do not drive or do anything that needs attention. Consult your doctor if it persists or worry you. It may cause headache or increase appetite in some cases. Before taking it, you should tell your doctor if you have any problems with your liver or kidneys or with your heart.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult with their doctor before taking it. Avoid drinking alcohol as it can cause excessive drowsiness with this medicine.

How to use Lota Tablet

How Lota Tablet works

Lota 10 mg Tablet is an antihistaminic medication. It treats allergy symptoms such as such as itching, swelling, and rashes by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger (histamine) in the body.

Lota 10 mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Because of its low milk levels and lack of sleepiness, use of Lota 10 mg Tablet would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed babies.
Driving

Lota 10 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Lota 10 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Lota 10 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver

Lota 10 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Lota 10 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Lota Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Lota 10 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

No, Lota is antihistaminic drug which may have anticholinergic properties and it is not narcotic/ antibiotic

Q. Can I take Lota for a cold/sinus infection/insect bites/hives/bee sting/allergic reaction, rash/congestion?

Yes, but patient should follow the advice of doctor regarding its use

Q. Can I take loratadine with Nyquil /Mucinex/ ibuprofen/ Singulair/ Benadryl/ amoxicillin/ diphenhydramine /Zoloft/ Zyrtec/ Dayquil?

Yes, but taking other antihistaminic medicines like diphenhydramine/Zyrtec/Benadryl /Day quil/ Zoloft / Mucinex may alter the effects of loratadine. Ibuprofen, Nyquil may alter levels of loratadine. You can take loratadine with amoxicillin. Always consult your doctor for the change of dose regimen or an alternative drug of choice that may strictly be required
