Lax Suspension is used in liver disease and constipation. It may also be used to treats and prevent complications of liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy).

How to use Lax Suspension

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Lax Suspension may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Lax Suspension works

Lax Suspension works by drawing water into the intestine through osmosis, which makes the stool soft and easier to pass.

What if you miss a dose of Lax Suspension?

Expert Advice

  • Avoid taking a Lax Suspension for more than 1 week, unless prescribed by the doctor, as it leads to dependency on the laxative action to produce a bowel movement. 
  • Together with Lax Suspension, fiber rich diet containing whole grain bread and cereals, bran, fruits and green leafy vegetables, is essential to maintain healthy bowel function.
  • A Lax Suspension should preferably be taken at bedtime because it requires 6 to 8 hours to show impact.
  • Notify your doctor if you are on a low-sugar diet because the Lax Suspension contains sugars.
  • Take Lax Suspension after 2 hours from other medicines, as it may interfere with the absorption of other medicines.

Hello. I hyperextended my thumb while playing basketball few years ago. While it seemed to have healed on its own, I continued to have problems with the said thumb even after years. I had an occasion to visit a good ortho nearby. He did my MRI and said that my thumb has become slightly LAX" due to injury. This is what he prescribed: 1. Tab Popcam-p 2. Tab Grip fit 3. Lactulose may interact with antibiotics, omeprazole, and Gaviscon/calcium carbonate. Senokot/senna, Fybogel/ispaghula when taken with lactulose may result in diarrhea. No interactions have been observed when lactulose is taken with warfarin, iron tablets, and paracetamol

Lax contains lactose, galactose, and small amounts of fructose. Do not take Lax if you have intolerance to these sugars.
