Fortwin 25mg Tablet can be taken with food. In general, you should try to use the smallest amount necessary to control your symptoms, for the shortest possible time. You should take this medicine regularly while you need it. Try not to miss doses as this will make the medicine less effective.

Some common side effects of this medicine include dizziness, sleepiness, vomiting, nausea, and constipation. If any of these side effects do not go away or get worse, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing the symptoms.

Fortwin 25mg Tablet is an opioid analgesic (pain reliever) which works by blocking transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception.

Use Fortwin 25mg Tablet as instructed by your doctor. Never take in greater amounts or more often than prescribed.
It causes sleepiness or drowsiness. If this happens to you, do not drive or use machinery.
Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Fortwin 25mg Tablet, as it may cause excessive sleepiness or drowsiness.
Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.
Store opioid pain relievers in a safe place and out of reach of others.

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine. Fortwin 25mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness when taken with alcohol.

Pregnancy

Fortwin 25mg Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy as there is positive evidence of fetal risk based on animal studies. However, it may still be prescribed by a doctor in situations where the benefits outweigh the risks.

Breast feeding

UNSAFE

Fortwin 25mg Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

UNSAFE

Fortwin 25mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Fortwin 25mg Tablet may cause sedation especially if taken with alcohol. This may impair your driving ability.

Kidney

CAUTION

Fortwin 25mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Liver

CAUTION

Fortwin 25mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Fortwin with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Life-threatening

Selegiline (Oral Route)

Do not consume Selegiline with Pentazocine. If essential, watch out for symptoms such as fever, tremors, diarrhea or agitation. Please consult your doctor.

Life-threatening

Naltrexone (Oral Route)

Do not consume Naltrexone with Pentazocine; watch out for symptoms such as breathlessness, increased heart rate, or headache. Naltrexone may reduce efficacy of Pentazocine.

Severe

Ziprasidone (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as tremors, fever, diarrhea or agitation and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may discontinue the medicines accordingly.

Severe

Alprazolam (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms of Alprazolam side effects such as drowsiness, excessive sedation, tiredness, dizziness or slurred speech and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Alprazolam as per the observations. It is advised to avoid driving or undertaking other tasks requiring skill and alertness.
