Fensupp 12.5 Suppository


Overview

Introduction

Fensupp 12.5 Suppository is a pain relieving medicine. It is used for treating post operative pain and inflammation. This route is administered in cases where any other route is not possible, such as, unconscious individuals or in children.

Fensupp 12.5 Suppository is for rectal use only. Remove the wrapper from the suppository before inserting it. Keep lying down for about 15 minutes after insertion so that the suppository does not come out before it melts. It starts working within one hour.

Nausea, constipation, anal irritation, itching and black stools are some of the side effects that might be seen with rectal administration. Inform your doctor immediately if any rash or allergic reaction is observed while taking this medicine. Pregnant and nursing women should use it under medical supervision only. It should be used with caution in patients with liver and kidney disease or alcohol abuse. It is not recommended in patients with severe or active liver disease.

How Fensupp Suppository works

Fensupp 12.5 Suppository is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) which is absorbed rapidly into the bloodstream from the rich blood supply of the rectal area. Once absorbed, it works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).

Q. How do you use Fensupp cream?

Follow your doctor’s instructions before using Fensupp. Apply a small amount of the ointment to the affected rectal area as directed. If this is to be used inside the rectum, attach the rectal applicator onto the tube. Insert the applicator gently and to full extent into the rectum. Gently squeeze the tube to deliver the medication while withdrawing it.

Q. Is Fensupp effective?

Fensupp is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Fensupp too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.

Q. In which conditions is the use of Fensupp avoided?

Use of Fensupp should be avoided in patients who are allergic to Fensupp or any of its components. However, if you are not aware of any allergy or if you are using Fensupp for the first time, consult your doctor.

Q. Can Fensupp be taken during pregnancy?

You should not take Fensupp during the last 3 months of pregnancy as it may cause harmful effects on your baby. Use of Fensupp can also lead to reduced labor (premature delivery). Hence, it is advised to avoid using Fensupp during the first 6 months of pregnancy also. In some cases, Fensupp may be prescribed in pregnant women only if the benefits outweigh the risks involved with its use in pregnant women. If not sure, consult your doctor regarding its use.
