Esoprz 40 mg Injection is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (acid reflux) and peptic ulcer disease.

How Esoprz Injection works

Esoprz 40 mg Injection is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

Pregnancy

Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Esoprz 40 mg Injection is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.

What if you miss a dose of Esoprz Injection?

If you miss a dose of Esoprz 40 mg Injection, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

  • Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever or stomach pain that does not go away.
  • Inform your doctor if you do not feel better after taking it for 14 days as you may be suffering from some other problem that needs attention.
  • Long-term use can cause weak bones and deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.

Esoprz can be taken by a patient undergoing dialysis in a manner as prescribed by the doctor. This is extensively bound to proteins in the body, so, it is not expected to be removed by dialysis.
