Introduction of Citra D Syrup

Citra D Syrup is a medicine used in the treatment of gout and kidney stones. It stops the production of uric acid in the body and reduces the episodes of gout attack and prevent kidney stones.

Citra D Syrup is best taken after food with plenty of water of juice. This will prevent you from getting an stomach upset. Take it regularly at the same time each day to get maximum benefit from the medicine. Before taking the medicine, inform your doctor of the medical conditions you have (if any) and medications you are currently taking. Citra D Syrup may cause few common side effects such as stomach pain. If you experience any symptoms which you believe is caused by the medicine, inform your doctor. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medicine as it may cause problems for the developing baby.

How to use Citra D Syrup

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Citra D Syrup may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Citra D Syrup works

Citra D Syrup is a urine alkalizer. It works by increasing the pH of urine which makes it less acidic. This helps the kidneys get rid of excess uric acid, thereby preventing gout and certain types of kidney stones.

Expert Advice

• It is advised to take the drug after meals and with plenty of plain water or juice to avoid stomach upset. 
• Inform your doctor if you have severe kidney disorders e.g., decreased urine output, sodium-restricted diet, high sodium levels in blood 
• Seek medical attention if you have a difficulty in breathing after taking the drug, or have low calcium levels, high blood pressure, heart problems (e.g., irregular heartbeat, heart failure), kidney disease, swollen ankles/legs/feet due to  water retention (peripheral edema).
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding.
• Should not be given to patients allergic to disodium hydrogen citrate or any of its ingredients.
• Should not be given to patients with history of high blood potassium levels, congestive heart failure, heart disease or severe kidney problems, or in case if you are dehydrated.
• Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid the intake of disodium hydrogen citrate.
• Patients suffering from severe bacterial infection should also avoid the intake of disodium hydrogen citrate.

Dear Sir, 3 days back I have been diagnosed with 1 kidney stone of 5.5 mm located at the junction of kidney tube and bladder. I am taking below tablets and have started drinking lots of water on advice by casualty doctor. The pain has stopped on the same day since medicines have been started. 1. Cystone 2. Meftal spas 3. Rablet D 4. Satrogyl - O I will a USG tomorrow to check whether the stone is flushed out. My question is what do's and don'ts I should follow to avoid the recurrence of the stone? There is no family history of this problem in my family. Thanks in advance, PATIENT
