Chloramax 5 Tablet should be taken empty stomach, or 1 hour before and 2 hours after a meal. But, try to have it at the same time every day for most benefits. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

The most common side effects of this medicine include anemia (low number of red blood cells), decreased blood cells (red cells, white cells, and platelets) decreased white blood cell count, infection, nausea and vomiting. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them.

Inform your doctor if you have a medical history, of bleeding disorders, heart or liver disease, radiation treatment or any infection. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your doctor know all medications you are using. This medicine is known to reduce the number of blood cells in your blood thereby, increasing the susceptibility to infections. Regular blood tests are required to check your blood cells along with kidney, liver and heart function during treatment with this medicine. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

Blood cancer
Chloramax 5 Tablet is used in certain types of blood cancer, such as leukemia and lymphoma, to slow the growth of abnormal cells and reduce the spread of the disease. It helps control symptoms and improve overall treatment response.

Hodgkin’s disease
In Hodgkin’s disease, Chloramax 5 Tablet is used to target cancerous lymph cells, helping shrink swollen lymph nodes and manage the condition effectively as part of combination therapy.

Side effects of Chloramax Tablet

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How Chloramax Tablet works

Chloramax 5 Tablet is an anti-cancer medication. It works by damaging the genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This stops their growth and multiplication.

Breast feeding

Chloramax 5 Tablet is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

It is not known whether Chloramax 5 Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. Please consult your doctor.

Kidney

CAUTION

Chloramax 5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Careful monitoring by a doctor is important as kidney disease patients are at an increased risk of bone marrow depression and inflammation and infections of urinary bladder while taking this medicine.

Liver

CAUTION

Chloramax 5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Chloramax with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Severe

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Concomitant use is not recommended. Please consult with your doctor about appropriate gap between these two. Chlorambucil may reduce the efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Severe

Herpes Zoster / Shingles Vaccine (Recombinant, Adjuvanted) (Injection Route)

Concomitant use is not recommended. Please consult with your doctor about appropriate gap between these two. Chlorambucil may reduce efficacy of Herpes Zoster / Shingles Vaccine (Recombinant, Adjuvanted).

Severe

Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine (Injection Route)

Do not use Chlorambucil with Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. If Chlorambucil is essential, ensure a gap of At least 6 months after discontinuing Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. Please consult your doctor. Concurrent use may increase the risk of fatal infections.

Severe

Filgrastim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Filgrastim from 24 hours before or 24 hours after taking Chlorambucil. Please consult with your doctor. Chlorambucil may reduce the efficacy of Filgrastim.

Severe

Pegfilgrastim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Chlorambucil from 14 days before until 24 days after taking Pegfilgrastim. Please consult your doctor.
