Centron Plus Tablet is a non-hormonal birth control medicine that contains centchroman (ormeloxifene). It is used to prevent pregnancy. It works by making it difficult for a fertilized egg to attach to the womb. Take it twice a week for the first 3 months and once a week thereafter. It may cause irregular or delayed periods. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV.

Centron Plus Tablet is a medicine used as an oral contraceptive pill. It helps to prevent pregnancy as it does not allow implantation of the fertilized ovum to the womb (uterus).

In higher doses, Centron Plus Tablet is also used to control abnormal vaginal bleeding in women who have not attained menopause (end of the monthly menstrual period). This medicine is only taken once a week, either with or without food. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor is the right person to decide the exact dose; hence, follow your doctor's advice.

There is limited data on the side effects of Centron Plus Tablet. Let your doctor know if you experience any symptoms that bother you or worsen while taking the medicine. They may be able to suggest ways to treat or manage the side effects.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Centron Plus Tablet may be taken with or without food.

How Centron Plus Tablet works

Centron Plus Tablet is a birth control pill. It acts by preventing the implantation of the fertilized ovum to the womb (uterus).

Dosage

Centron Plus Tablet is taken twice a week for the first 3 months. Take the first dose on the first day of your period and the second dose 3 days later. Continue taking it on these same two days each week for 3 months. From the fourth month, take one dose once a week on the same day.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Centron Plus with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Severe

Lorlatinib (Oral Route)

Do not consume Lorlatinib with Centchroman. Lorlatinib may reduce blood levels of Centchroman.

Moderate

Tizanidine (Oral Route)

Watch out for symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue, drowsiness, sedation, faintness or vomiting and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the dose of Tizanidine accordingly. Centchroman may raise blood levels of Tizanidine.

Moderate

Dabrafenib (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Dabrafenib may reduce efficacy of Centchroman.

Moderate

Danazol (Oral Route)

It is recommended to use alternative methods (IUDs, depot, or barrier methods) of contraception.

Mifepristone (Oral Route)

In case of Cushing's syndrome, your doctor may recommend you to use non-hormonal forms of contraception like, condoms during treatment and for 1 month after stopping Centchroman. Mifepristone may reduce efficacy of Centchroman.
