Carstim 100mg Injection is generally administered by a doctor. You should not self-administer this medicine at home. This dose and duration of the treatment will depend on what you are being treated and the severity of your condition. You should get the injection regularly for as long as the doctor has prescribed.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, and low blood pressure. This medicine may lower your ability to fight infections and lead to problems with your blood, lungs, liver, or kidneys. Your doctor will advise you regular blood tests to check for these.

Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have liver, lung, or kidney problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine, so let your doctor know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. It may harm your baby. You and your partner should avoid becoming pregnant or fathering a child for several months after your treatment with it has stopped.

Brain tumor is an abnormal mass or collection of cells that may be cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign). Carstim 100mg Injection kills or stops the growth of cancer cells and also prevents the multiplication of cancer cells. It is a potent and very toxic medicine and you should discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. You should avoid drinking alcohol while having this treatment and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Side effects of Carstim Injection

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How Carstim Injection works

Carstim 100mg Injection is an anti-cancer medication. It works by damaging the genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This stops their growth and multiplication.

Quick tips

Carstim 100mg Injection is given as an injection into the veins under the supervision of a doctor.
Carstim 100mg Injection may cause serious lung damage. Report persistent cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, or unexplained persistent weakness or tiredness promptly. Lung function tests and chest imaging may be performed before and during treatment.
Your kidney, liver, and lung function should be checked before treatment and monitored during therapy. Tell your doctor if you already have kidney, liver, or breathing problems.
Tell the doctor immediately if you experience pain, burning, redness, or swelling around the infusion site.
Carstim 100mg Injection may affect fertility. Men who are concerned about having children in the future should discuss fertility preservation or family planning before treatment.
Both men and women should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 6 months afterward. Breastfeeding is contraindicated during treatment and for up to 7 days after treatment.

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medicine. Carstim 100mg Injection may cause excessive drowsiness when taken with alcohol.

Pregnancy

UNSAFE

Carstim 100mg Injection is highly unsafe during pregnancy. It can cause serious harm to the unborn baby, including birth defects and pregnancy loss. Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Breast feeding

UNSAFE

Carstim 100mg Injection is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.

Driving

CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

It is not known whether Carstim 100mg Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. Please consult your doctor.

Kidney

CAUTION

Carstim 100mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
However, the use of Carstim 100mg Injection is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Liver

CAUTION

Carstim 100mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Carstim with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Cimetidine (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor blood cell counts and your overall treatment closely.

Severe

Filgrastim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Filgrastim from 24 hours before and until 24 hours after taking Carmustine. Carmustine may reduce the efficacy of Filgrastim.

Severe

Pegfilgrastim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Carmustine from 14 days before until 24 days after taking Pegfilgrastim. Please consult your doctor. Carmustine may reduce the efficacy of Pegfilgrastim.

Sargramostim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Carmustine from 1 day before until 1 day after taking Sargramostim. Please consult your doctor. Carmustine may reduce the efficacy of Sargramostim.

Lenograstim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Lenograstim from 24 hours before until 24 hours after undergoing cytotoxic chemotherapy. Carmustine may reduce the efficacy of Lenograstim.
