How to use Bacigyl-N Oral Suspension

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Bacigyl-N Suspension is to be taken with food.

How Bacigyl-N Oral Suspension works

Bacigyl-N Suspension is a combination of two antibiotics: Metronidazole and Norfloxacin. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that cause infections by damaging their DNA. Norfloxacin works by preventing the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing the bacteria. Together, they treat your infection effectively.

Bacigyl-N Oral Suspension related warnings

Bacigyl-N Suspension may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heartbeat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure with alcohol (Disulfiram reactions).
Bacigyl-N Suspension may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Bacigyl-N Suspension is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Bacigyl-N Suspension may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused. You may have hallucinations, fits (convulsions) or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision) affecting your ability to drive.
Bacigyl-N Suspension should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Bacigyl-N Suspension may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Bacigyl-N Suspension is not advised in patients with severe kidney disease.

Q. Can the use of Bacigyl-N cause dryness in mouth?

Yes, the use of Bacigyl-N can cause dry mouth. If you experience dry mouth, drink plenty of water. Take regular sips during the day and keep some water by your bed at night. You may use lip balm if your lips are also dry.

Q. Can I take Bacigyl-N while breastfeeding?

Bacigyl-N should be used with caution in nursing mothers as metronidazole passes into breast milk and could give the milk a bitter taste. Although it is not generally expected to be harmful, but you should always consult your doctor before taking Bacigyl-N.

Q. Are there any specific conditions in which Bacigyl-N should not to be taken?

The use of Bacigyl-N should be avoided in patients with known allergy to any of the components or excipients of this medicine.

Q. What if I don't get better after using Bacigyl-N?

Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.

Q. Can I take alcohol while taking Bacigyl-N?

Alcohol should not be consumed while taking this medicine as it may lower the blood pressure and cause dizziness and lightheadedness.

Q. Can I stop taking Bacigyl-N when I feel better?

No, do not stop taking Bacigyl-N and complete the full course of treatment even if you are feeling better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Q. What if I miss my dose?

Take Bacigyl-N as soon as you remember it. However, do not take it if it's almost time for your next dose. Also, do not take an extra dose to make up for your missed dose.

Q. Can the use of Bacigyl-N cause metallic taste?

Yes, the use of Bacigyl-N can cause a temporary metallic taste. This metallic taste can be reduced by chewing sugar-free gum or mints, brushing teeth after the meals and by staying hydrated.

Q. Can the use of Bacigyl-N cause nausea and vomiting?

Yes, the use of Bacigyl-N can cause nausea and vomiting. Taking it with milk, food or with antacids can prevent nausea. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods along with this medicine. In case of vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids by taking small frequent sips. Talk to your doctor if vomiting persists and you notice signs of dehydration, like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicine without speaking to your doctor.
