Introduction of Amione Tablet

Amione 100 mg Tablet is used to treat various types of serious irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) such as fibrillation and tachycardia. It is an anti-arrhythmic type of medicine and rapidly restores your heart to a steady and regular rhythm.

Amione 100 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day, to avoid a missed dose. Continuous monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate may be needed while taking this medicine. It is important that you keep taking it until your doctor decides it is safe to stop it. If you stop taking this medicine, you may get dangerous uneven heartbeats, which can be life-threatening.

The most common side effects of this medicine include a decrease in blood pressure (hypotension), heart failure, decreased heart rate (bradycardia), nausea, feeling tired, blurred vision and being more sensitive to sunlight. This medicine can also cause problems with your liver, lungs, nerves and thyroid gland. Ask your doctor what signs to look out for and report any symptoms you have. It takes a long time to clear from the body. You may continue to have side effects after you stop using it. Ask your doctor about ways to prevent or reduce them.

Before getting this medicine, you should let your doctor know if you have low blood pressure, drink a lot of alcohol or have liver, heart or thyroid problems. You should also inform your doctor about all other medicines that you are taking as many can seriously affect or be affected by this medicine. Some medicines like certain antibiotics and medicines for depression and mental illness should be avoided with this medicine.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor will carry out regular tests to check your liver and thyroid gland. You may also be advised other blood tests, x-rays, and eye tests both before and during treatment.

Lactation

Driving

Amione 100 mg Tablet may cause blurring of your vision for a short time just after its use. Do not drive until your vision is clear.
Kidney

Amione 100 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Amione 100 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have an underlying kidney disease.
Liver
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Amione 100 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Amione 100 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Amione Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Amione 100 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Q. What should be avoided when taking Amione?

If you experience blurred vision while taking Amione, you should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery. You should not drink grapefruit juice and limit the use of alcohol while taking Amione. This is due to the fact that, taking alcohol may increase your chances of liver problems.

Q. Can you take Amione for long term?

Yes, Amione can be used for long term but should be cautiously used at the lowest effective maintenance dose. Regular monitoring of liver function, blood tests, thyroid, lung function, electrical activity of the heart and eye examination are important every six months after starting treatment.

Q. What are the warning signals of liver toxicity caused by Amione?

The warning signals of liver toxicity include yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), feeling tired, nausea, vomiting, dark-colored urine, pale-colored stools, loss of appetite, stomach pain, or high temperature. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms.

Q. What kind of vision problems occur with Amione?

You may experience blurred vision, see halos in dazzling light, your eyes may become dry or sensitive to light. It can even cause permanent blindness and therefore you should consult your doctor in case you experience any such problems while on Amione.

Amione may make your skin sensitive to sunlight. Exposed skin may turn blue-gray and may not return to normal even after you stop taking this medication. Hence, you should avoid unnecessary or prolonged exposure to sunlight or sunlamps. You should wear protective clothing, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Q. How should Amione be taken?

Amione should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usually, it is taken once or twice daily with or without food. It is to be swallowed whole with water and not to be cut or crushed.

Q. What if I forget to take Amione?

If you forget a dose of Amione take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose for a forgotten dose. Do not stop taking Amione without consulting your doctor. This is because, sudden discontinuation of the medicine may cause recurrence of irregular rhythm of heart or may be worse which can be dangerous.
