Klox-D 500 Capsule should be taken on an empty stomach. For best results, it should be used regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. Taking it at the same time every day will help you to remember to take it. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening. The total duration of treatment and precise dosage will be decided by your doctor, depending on the type of infection that you have and how well you respond to the medication.

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin or penicillin-type of medicine. Rash, vomiting, allergic reactions, nausea, and diarrhea may be seen as side effects in some patients. These are temporary and usually resolve quickly. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or if your condition worsens. This medicine is generally regarded as safe to use during pregnancy if used under a doctor’s supervision.

How Klox-D Capsule works

Klox-D 500 Capsule is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming their own protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive.

You have been prescribed Klox-D 500 Capsule for the treatment of bacterial infections.
Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.
Take it on an empty stomach, or at least one hour before or two hours after meals.
Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
Inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
It may not be well tolerated due to its side effects such as belching and metallic taste in mouth.

Klox-D 500 Capsule is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies do not indicate harmful effects. However, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding

SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Available human data suggest that the drug does not pass into breast milk in clinically significant amounts and is unlikely to harm the infant.

Driving

It is not known whether Klox-D 500 Capsule alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react. Please consult your doctor.

Kidney

CAUTION

Klox-D 500 Capsule should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.
Dose adjustment is not recommended in patients with mild and moderate kidney disease.

Liver

There is limited data available on the use of Klox-D 500 Capsule in patients with liver disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Klox-D with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Severe

Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine (Injection Route)

Dicloxacillin may reduce the efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. Dicloxacillin may reduce the efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine.

Severe

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Do not consume Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) two weeks before and at least 10 days after consuming Dicloxacillin. Please consult your doctor. Dicloxacillin may reduce the efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Moderate

Amikacin (Injection Route)

Talk to your doctor if you notice any unusual symptoms.

Moderate

Pemetrexed (Injection Route)

Your doctor may monitor your creatinine clearance along with your overall treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations. Dicloxacillin may slow down the removal of Pemetrexed from the body.

Moderate

Kanamycin (Injection Route)

Let your doctor know if you have a history of kidney disease. Your doctor may monitor your kidney function regularly.
