Persistent Use of Pain Killers Tied To Hearing Loss In Women!

Regular use (over six years) of pain killers such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen may increase risk for hearing loss in women, study reveals. 

-In a recent study, the researchers from the Harvard’s affiliated Brigham and Women’s
Hospital studied the data from the Nurses’ Health Study to understand the risk of hearing loss with regular use of pain killers.

-The study examined data of more than 54,000 women aged between 48 to 73 years of age enrolled in the Nurses’ Health Study.

-The study suggested that long time use of the pain killers such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen were found to increase the risk of hearing loss in women.

-Though not a very big number, but as per the study 16.2% of hearing loss was caused due to the persistent use of these pain killers.

-Findings were published in the American Journal of Epidemiology
