Understanding MRI Penile
What is MRI Penile?
A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Penis Region creates a picture of the root (radix), body (corpus), penis epithelium, penis mouth foreskin (prepuce), and surrounding soft tissues (blood vessels, lymph vessels, nerves, vas deferens).
This test is prescribed by the doctor to diagnose priapism (prolonged painful erection), and to find out the presence of any penile tumor/cyst/lump which originates from the penis skin.
What is MRI Penile used for?
- To diagnose priapism (prolonged painful erection), balanitis (infection/inflammation of penis head)
- To detect phimosis (inability of the tight foreskin of penis to fold off)
- To find out the presence of any penile tumor/cancer/cyst/lump which originates from the penis skin.
