Know more about this test

MRI Defecography is an imaging technique to visualize the pelvic floor muscles and their function during different stages of defecation. This is advised in case of severe and consistent constipation or a person's inability to pass stool and involuntary bowel motion.
It helps in diagnosis of various bowel related disorders including descending perineal syndrome, enterocele, dyssynergic defecation, fecal incontinence and rectocele.
MRI is considered to be a safer alternative as compared to other imaging techniques as it does not use any ionizing radiations.
It is always important to inform the doctor about any metallic implants in the body before undergoing the scan as they can interfere with the process.
