Endomysial Antibody IgA in New Delhi
Understanding Endomysial Antibody IgA in New Delhi
What is Endomysial Antibody IgA in New Delhi?
The Endomysial Antibody IgA test, also known as the EMA test, is a simple blood test that determines if you have celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis by detecting specific antibodies (IgA) in your blood.
Endomysial antibodies (EMAs) are antibodies against gluten. With celiac disease, the immune system reacts abnormally to a protein called gluten. Gluten is usually found in wheat, rye, and barley. This protein also causes dermatitis herpetiformis - a long-term (chronic) skin condition that causes itchiness and blisters.
Depending on your age, gender, health history, the method of the test, and other factors, your results may vary. A negative result means no antibodies to EMA were found in your blood. It may be indicative of celiac disease if you have higher levels of IgA and EMA antibodies.
