Endometriosis Panel

As per the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 10% of women and girls of reproductive age are affected by endometriosis. It is a disease in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus, often affecting the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other pelvic organs. Endometriosis can start with a woman's first menstrual period and may continue until menopause. 

The Endometriosis Panel includes the Interleukin-6 (IL-6) test, which determines inflammation in the body. Individuals with endometriosis often have high levels of IL-6 as the condition causes long-term inflammation. It also includes the CA 125 test, which is usually linked to ovarian cancer but can also be higher in people with endometriosis. This can help doctors understand the severity of the condition and monitor its progression.

The Endometriosis Panel is recommended for women who have symptoms like pelvic pain, heavy or painful periods, pain during sex, bloating, or trouble getting pregnant. The panel is also useful for women with a family history of endometriosis or unexplained gynecological problems. Detecting endometriosis in its early stage helps doctors provide the right treatment, such as hormonal therapy or surgery, to manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

You need to provide a brief clinical history or doctor's prescription at the time of sample collection. Avoid testing right before or during menstruation, or immediately after abdominal surgery, as these factors can impact the results. Be sure to inform the doctor about any medications or supplements being taken, as they may affect the test results. Also, avoid taking biotin for at least 8 hours before giving the blood sample.

Lab test results may vary across different laboratories. Abnormal test results require expert interpretation. Therefore, never try to self-medicate based solely on these results. Always consult a doctor for a proper understanding of the test results.
