The Obstetric Color Doppler test is an imaging test performed as a part of biophysical profile (BPP) during the third trimester of pregnancy. This test uses ultrasound to create an image of the blood flow in the umbilical cord connecting mother and fetus. It also helps to study blood circulation in the baby, uterus and placenta.
Obstetrical color doppler is recommended to identify cases of multiple fetuses, to diagnose conditions like high level and low level of amniotic fluid and to detect reduced movement of the fetus during the third trimester.
No injurious effects have been identified from ultrasound scanning of the fetus. Since ultrasound is so widely used in pregnancy, it is essential to ensure its use remains safe.

For pregnant patients, a doctor’s prescription is mandatory. It should be duly signed and stamped by the doctor, and must include the doctor’s DMC number as per the PCPNDT Act.

Past reports and a signed informed consent form are required.
