The Color Doppler - Liver is an imaging procedure that examines the liver and the blood vessels that supply blood to the liver. In this procedure, a gel is applied to the abdomen, and a transducer, or a probe, is moved over the abdomen and the rib cage. The probe sends and receives sound waves that capture clear images of the organs.

This test detects liver cysts, liver disease, or injury. It examines the functioning of the liver, especially in the case of hepatitis or cirrhosis. It is advised regularly after a liver transplant to detect any complications. It is a painless, non-invasive procedure that lasts for 20-30 minutes. It is advised to drink water 6 hours before the procedure. This test may be advised as an alternative to angiography.
