Introduction

Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is a medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is a combination of two medicines that effectively control blood sugar levels, when a single medication is not effective. When used along with a proper diet and regular exercise, this medicine helps to prevent the long-term complications of diabetes mellitus. It may cause nausea and stomach pain as a side effect, which generally improve with time.

How to use Voglimac MF Tablet SR

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is to be taken with food.

How Voglimac MF Tablet SR works

Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Metformin and voglibose. Metformin lowers the production and absorption of sugar in your body and allows better use of existing insulin. Voglibose inhibits the intestinal enzymes that cause breakdown of complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose. This prevents blood glucose from rising very high after meals.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR.
Pregnancy
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Breastfeeding
SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
CAUTION
Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
CAUTION
Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.
Liver
CAUTION
Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

Quick Tips

  • Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. 
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxious feeling.
  • Monitor your blood sugar level regularly while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting or stomach pain as Voglimac MF 0.3 Tablet SR may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.

Since 3 years I have Type 2 Diabetes and am presently on 1 tab. of glynase MF .My fasting is 130 and PP goes up to 170-180. I want to lower it further. I have been advised to take 1 tab. of voglibose 0.3 with lunch.Iam unable to walk more than 1 k.m. due to osteoarthritis but I am cycling daily for one hour to compensate. What do I do to control B-G level more effectively?
