Varmitone Liquid should be used in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It should be taken with food, preferably at a fixed time. Avoid skipping any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.

Some people may experience nausea, headache, vomiting, and dizziness as the side effects of this medicine. Please consult your doctor if these side effects do not resolve or persist for a longer duration. You may be monitored with blood tests and liver function tests throughout your treatment.

This medicine usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, you should continue taking it as long as it is prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all parasites are killed and do not become resistant.

How to use Varmitone Liquid

Use this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Varmitone Liquid may be taken with or without food.

How Varmitone Liquid works

Piperazine belongs to class of drugs called anthelmintic. It works by paralyzing the worms and making them to pass in the stool. It is effective against the intestinal nematodes roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides), pinworm and threadworm (Enterobius vermicularis). Piperazine produces a neuromuscular block leads to muscle paralysis of the worms which are consequently dislodged and expelled in the faeces.

It should be taken with food.
Your doctor may monitor your blood counts and liver function before you start taking this medicine and regularly throughout your treatment.
Avoid being near people who are sick or have infections. Inform your doctor if you develop signs of infection.
Do not skip doses and finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may increase your risk of further infection.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Varmitone with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Severe

Pyrantel Pamoate (Oral Route)

Do not consume Pyrantel Pamoate with Piperazine. Piperazine may reduce the efficacy of Pyrantel Pamoate.

Moderate

Chlorpromazine (Oral Route)

Caution is advised when taking Chlorpromazine with Piperazine as both medicines can cause convulsions. Concomitant use may increase the risk of convulsions.

Moderate

Chlorpromazine (Injection Route)

Caution is advised when taking Chlorpromazine with Piperazine as both medicines can cause convulsions. Concomitant use may increase the risk of convulsions.
