How Thromboparin Injection works
THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION is an anticoagulant. It works by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. Although it does not dissolve the existing blood clots, it prevents them from growing larger and causing blockages in the blood vessels.

THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION is released in small amounts in the breast milk and amounts reaching the baby are also small, which would not be expected to cause any harmful effects to the baby.
THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION does not usually affect your ability to drive.
THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
There is limited information available on the use of THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

  • You have been prescribed THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION for the treatment and prevention of blood clots.
  • Heparin was the first anticoagulant agent to be discovered and isolated for medical use. It is one of the oldest drugs still to be in widespread clinical use. 
  • You can be at higher risk for bleeding while taking THROMBOPARIN 5000 IU INJECTION. Inform your doctor if you notice blood in your urine or stool or any unusual bleeding from your skin, gums or nose.
  • It may cause a serious allergic reaction. Inform your doctor if you develop difficulty breathing, a blue tinge to the lips, fever, and chills or swelling of the eyes and lips.
  • Inform your doctor if you are also taking other medicines that affect bleeding risk like aspirin and NSAIDs.
  • Long term use may cause loss of hair or thinning of the bones.

Thromboparin affects INR (used to monitor the effectiveness of the anticoagulant), and PTT (blood test determines the blood clotting time), It may cause reduced blood platelet count

No,it is available as gel, ointment, and an injection form.
Q. Does Thromboparin affect blood pressure or sleep?
Thromboparin is not reported to affect blood pressure or sleep. Do consult your doctor if you experience such symptoms

Yes,it is produced in the body by mast cells
Q. Can I take Advil (ibuprofen), Tylenol (acetaminophen), or aspirin with Thromboparin?
