Product introduction

Sinozap-O Nasal Spray is a medicine used to treat nasal congestion (blocked nose) caused by the common cold or flu, hay fever and other allergies. It narrows the blood vessels in your nose to relieve nasal congestion and blockage.

Sinozap-O Nasal Spray should be used as you have been advised by your doctor. Normally you should blow your nose gently before using it, keep one nostril closed while applying the medicine into the other, and then sniff hard to make sure it reaches deep into the nose. Then repeat the same for the other nostril. It provides relief very quickly and can last for several hours. It provides only temporary relief but do not use it more often or for longer than recommended. If you use this medicine too often or for too long, it may worsen your symptoms rather than improve them.

The most common side effects are nose irritation and dryness of the mouth or throat. These are usually mild but if they bother you or do not go away, your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing them.

It is generally a safe medicine but, before taking it, talk to your doctor about any health problems you have such as heart problems or high blood pressure (hypertension) or overactive thyroid gland or glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye), or prostate enlargement. Let your doctor know about any other medicines you are taking to make sure you are safe. Ask your doctor for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

It works by shrinking the swollen blood vessels inside the nose, allowing for easier airflow. This helps restore normal breathing and provides relief from pressure and discomfort associated with blocked nasal passages.

What if you forget to take Sinozap-O Nasal Solution?

If you miss a dose of Sinozap-O Nasal Spray, use it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

It works right away and each dose provides relief for up to 12 hours.
The right way to use the nasal spray:
- Shake the bottle before using the medicine.
- Clean your nose thoroughly before using the medicine.
- Insert the bottle tip into one nostril and close the other nostril.
- Direct the spray towards the sides of your nostril, away from the cartilage dividing the two sides of your nose.
- Breathe out gently through your mouth and repeat the same process for the other nostril.
Avoid deep breathing as it will cause medication to go back to the throat and make it less effective.
Do not share the bottle with anyone else so that you do not spread germs.
Sinozap-O Nasal Spray can make nasal congestion worse if used for more than 3 or 4 days in a row (called rebound congestion).

Taking Sinozap-O with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Furazolidone (Oral Route) Life-threatening

Do not consume Furazolidone with Oxymetazoline. If essential, consult your doctor. Concurrent use may cause a serious increase in blood pressure.

Sevoflurane (Oral Route) Life-threatening

Do not consume Sevoflurane with Oxymetazoline. Concurrent use may cause a fatal increase in blood pressure before surgery.

Tranylcypromine (Oral Route) Life-threatening

Do not consume Tranylcypromine with Oxymetazoline. If Tranylcypromine is essential, ensure a gap of at least 2 weeks after discontinuing Oxymetazoline. Please consult your doctor. ... More

Sevoflurane (Inhalation Route) Life-threatening

Do not consume Sevoflurane with Oxymetazoline. Concurrent use may cause a fatal increase in blood pressure before surgery.

Treatment with Sinozap-O Nasal Spray does not cause mental addiction. However, patients may get physically addicted such that they may feel an urge to use Sinozap-O Nasal Spray. Hence, it should only be used at prescribed doses for the prescribed duration as advised by your doctor.

Is Sinozap-O Nasal Spray a steroid/ antihistamine?

No, Sinozap-O Nasal Spray is not a steroid or an antihistamine. It belongs to a class of medications called adrenergic medicines that are used as nasal decongestants (to relieve congestion of the nose).

Is Sinozap-O Nasal Spray safe?

Sinozap-O Nasal Spray is safe if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Take it exactly as directed and do not skip any dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully and let your doctor know if any of the side effects bother you.

Does Sinozap-O Nasal Spray cause cataract/keep you awake/ raise blood pressure/insomnia/drowsiness?

There are no such reports which suggest occurrence of side effects such as cataract, insomnia (inability to sleep) or drowsiness during treatment with Sinozap-O Nasal Spray. However, Sinozap-O Nasal Spray can raise blood pressure when taken with medicines that are used to treat depression, like selegiline and moclobemide. It can also decrease the effect of medicines used to treat blood pressure. Hence, patients should consult doctors regarding the possible side effects and drug interactions.

Can I take Sinozap-O Nasal Spray with Benadryl (diphenhydramine)/ phenylephrine/ pseudoephedrine?

Sinozap-O Nasal Spray should not be taken simultaneously with Benadryl (diphenhydramine)/phenylephrine/pseudoephedrine. Consult your doctor before using any other medicine with Sinozap-O Nasal Spray.
