Ranolazine is used alone or with other medications to treat ongoing angina (heart disease that causes intense chest pain).

How it works

Ranolazine belongs to class of medications called anti-anginals. It works by improving blood flow to help the heart work more efficiently.

Common side effects

dizziness upon standing, sleepiness or drowsiness, low blood pressure, loss of appetite and/or weight loss, excessive sweating, indigestion, dry mouth, nausea, tremor, feeling swollen or bloated, visual disturbance, Dizziness, feeling tired or sluggish, muscle cramp, rapid weight gain, changes in sensation, allergy, dehydration, vomiting, stomach pain or discomfort, liver abnormality, ringing in the ears and/or feeling a spinning sensation, increase in creatinine or urea in your blood, blood in urine, pain in extremity, difficulty urinating, abnormal blood counts, hallucination, nose bleed, or gas, impotence., altered sensation, double vision, cough, dark urine, hot flushes, joint swelling, difficulty sleeping, blurred vision, feeling weak, confusion, itching, anxiety, headache, constipation, kidney failure

  • Do not stop taking ranolazine without talking to your doctor.
  • Ranolazine may make you dizzy and lightheaded. Do not drive a car, operate machinery, or participate in activities requiring mental alertness and coordination until you know how this medication affects you.
