Uses of Racetril Tablet

Racetril 15 mg Tablet is used in the treatment of diarrhoea. It is used, when fluid and dietary measures are not sufficiently effective to control diarrhoea.

How to use Racetril Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Racetril 15 mg Tablet is to be taken with food.

How Racetril Tablet works

Racetril 15 mg Tablet has an anti-secretory effect. It reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. This helps to reduce the amount of fluid loss from the body in diarrhoea.

What if you miss a dose of Racetril Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Racetril 15 mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Expert Advice

  • Racetril 15 mg Tablet should be used together with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to provide adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement.
  • Don't use Racetril 15 mg Tablet, if you have blood and pus in the stools or fever. This may be due to bacterial infection and may need different treatment.
  • Not recommended to be taken more than 7 days.
  • Inform your doctor if you have ever been diagnosed with kidney or liver problems.
  • Don't use Racetril 15 mg Tablet, if you have uncontrolled vomiting.
  • Don't use Racetril 15 mg Tablet in children less than 3 months.
  • Not approved for adult and children above 13 years.
  • Racetril 15 mg Tablet sachet should be taken orally, directly or mixed with water. Make sure it is mixed well, and then give the total dose immediately to your child.
