Protobid Plus Tablet is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, metallic taste, diarrhea, dryness in mouth, vomiting, stomach pain, flatulence, weakness, nervousness, headache, and blurred vision. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your dizziness.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding. You should also tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. Immediately consult your doctor if you experience any allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling, and itching.

Protobid Plus Tablet effectively relieves sudden muscle spasms or contractions in the stomach and intestine (gut), thereby relaxing the muscles and improving movement of food. It also blocks chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain sensation. This helps to treat abdominal pain (or stomach pain) as well as cramps, bloating and discomfort. Take Protobid Plus Tablet as prescribed to get maximum benefit. Eventually, it will help you to go about your daily activities more easily and have a more active and better quality of life.

Diarrhea
Diarrhea is an increase in the frequency of bowel movements or loose watery bowel movements. It can most commonly occur due to an infection of the digestive tract. Protobid Plus Tablet helps to treat diarrhea that is caused due to bacteria or parasitic worm infections. This medicine can relieve frequent loose motions and also help you to stay well by preventing them from coming back. You need to take this medicine regularly to get the most out of it and you should drink plenty of fluids while taking it to make sure you stay hydrated.

How Protobid Plus Tablet works

Protobid Plus Tablet is a combination of four medicines: methylpolysiloxane, dicyclomine, diloxanide and tinidazole.

Quick tips

You have been prescribed Protobid Plus Tablet for the treatment of diarrhea and to get relief from abdominal pain.
It is best to take it when the first sign of pain occurs.
Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated.
Consult your doctor if your diarrhea lasts for more than 48 hours even after taking Protobid Plus Tablet.
Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea).
Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
Do not take any indigestion remedies (antacids) within two hours of taking this medicine.

Liver

Protobid Plus Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Protobid Plus Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
