In a few cases, Ostofen 50mg Capsule may cause an increase in blood pressure. Before taking Ostofen 50mg Capsule, you should inform your doctor if you have high blood pressure. Also, inform your doctor about the medicines that you might be taking for it. Doctors prescribe this medicine to people with high blood pressure only if the benefits outweigh the risks. In fact, patients with uncontrolled blood pressure should be very careful and should regularly monitor their blood pressure while on Ostofen 50mg Capsule.
Taking Ostofen 50mg Capsule on an empty stomach may cause nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, burning sensation in food pipe, and stomach pain. Therefore, Ostofen 50mg Capsule should be taken with a glass of water either with meals or just after meals. Your doctor may also recommend taking an antacid with Ostofen 50mg Capsule to avoid stomach upset.
If you are taking high doses of Ostofen 50mg Capsule or a long-term treatment or both, then you should restrict or avoid alcohol. The reason being, taking both of them together increases your chances of ulcers and bleeding. It may also result in holes in the stomach and intestine (gastrointestinal perforation). These are serious side effects of Ostofen 50mg Capsule which may be life-threatening. Discuss with your doctor if you are not sure.
Avoid taking Ostofen 50mg Capsule during pregnancy as it may put your pregnancy and your unborn baby at risk. There have been reports of miscarriage and defects in the heart of the baby. But, if it is necessary to take it, then your doctor may prescribe a low dose for the shortest duration. This is applicable for the first 6 months of pregnancy. Ostofen 50mg Capsule should not be given during the last 3 months of pregnancy as it may cause various defects in the baby and may also prolong labor.
Yes, Ostofen 50mg Capsule may cause sleepiness. It may also cause dizziness, visual disturbances, drowsiness, fits, and spinning sensation. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you experience these symptoms. Consult your doctor if you are not sure.
Take Ostofen 50mg Capsule only as long as advised by your doctor. Do not take it for longer than the recommended period of time. Long-term treatment with Ostofen 50mg Capsule and at high doses can cause an increased risk of heart attack, stroke, ulcers, bleeding, or holes in the stomach and intestine. These symptoms can occur at any time without warning.
