Your child’s medicine at a glance

Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT is an antibiotic medicine with versatile actions. It can treat a multitude of bacterial infections including those of the ears, eyes, nose, sinus, tonsils, tooth, throat, lungs, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It may also be effective against peptic ulcer disease.

Give Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT either with or without food but it is best to give it with food if it upsets your child’s stomach. It is generally given two to three times a day. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend on the severity of the infection, its type, and your child’s body weight and age. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the dose when your child feels better. However, do not double the dose if it is the time for the next dose.

Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT can cause some minor and temporary side effects such as nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects should ideally subside on their own. But, in case these side effects persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without a delay.

Tell your child’s doctor if your child has had any previous episode of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, and kidney malfunction. Knowledge of your child’s medical history will help the doctor make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

Benefits of Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT for your child

In Treatment and prevention of Bacterial infections

Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT is a medicine given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections. These infections may include otitis media (ear infection), sinusitis (sinus infection), tonsillitis (infection of tonsils), dental abscess (tooth infection), pneumonia (lung infection), cellulitis (skin infection), and urinary tract infection. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria.

Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT is also given as a first-line antibiotic to prevent a range of infections. Additionally, it works best for several infections that are suspected to be caused by the bacteria but the type of bacteria is not known (empirical therapy). It may be given alone or along with some other medicines. Usually, children start to feel better within 2-3 days of regular dosing. Make sure to finish the recommended course of the medicine as stopping the medicine abruptly may lead to ineffective treatment or worsen your child’s condition.

In Treatment of Peptic ulcer disease

Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT is also given to eradicate H. Pylori bacteria which is responsible for causing peptic ulcers in children. For peptic ulcers, it is generally given in combination with other medicines for around 10-14 days. Keep giving Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT to your child as prescribed for it to be effective, even if the symptoms seem to disappear.

  • Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
  • Give Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT to your child only for their current infection. Avoid storing the medicine for future use as it is impossible to judge whether the same medicine would work for any future illnesses.

FAQs

Q. Can I give Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT to my child repeatedly for a long time?

Giving your child Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT for a long term can cause fungal infection (oral thrush) in the mouth and severe gastrointestinal infections (superinfections). Therefore, do not alter the dose and duration on your own and give Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT to your child exactly as prescribed. Additionally, irregular treatment, repeated use, and misuse of Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT can make the bacteria resistant.

Q. Are there any possible serious side effects of Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT?

Although rare, Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.

Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT?

Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT?

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

Q. The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

In the common cold, the mucus changes its color and thickens up with time, but this does not mean that your child needs antibiotics. Common cold symptoms often last for 7-10 days. In case they fail to clear up within this duration, reach out to your child’s doctor for guidance.

Q. Is Nodimox 125mg Tablet DT safe for children suffering from infectious mononucleosis?
