Product introduction

Nimeth 0.5mg Injection is not for a self-administered, it is given as an injection into the veins or muscles by the doctor at hospital setting. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms.

The most common side effects of this medicine include headache, increase in blood pressure and seizure.  If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, alcohol should be avoided while taking this medicine.

Induction of labour is sometimes necessary when there are health concerns for the mother or baby, or if the pregnancy goes beyond full term. Nimeth 0.5mg Injection helps initiate or strengthen uterine contractions, assisting in the safe progression of labour when medically required.

How Nimeth Injection works

Nimeth 0.5mg Injection is an ergot alkaloid. It works by causing sustained contractions of the smooth muscles of the uterus. This results in compression of the blood vessels which controls bleeding after delivery.

Quick tips

  • Nimeth 0.5mg Injection is used for the prevention and control of post-delivery bleeding.
  • It may also be used for the active management of the third stage of labor, to facilitate the delivery of the placenta.
  • It is given intravenously (into a vein) or intramuscularly (into the muscle) by a doctor or healthcare provider in a hospital or clinic.
  • Its dose may be repeated as required at intervals of 2 to 4 hours.
  • It should be avoided in patients, with high blood pressure, and heart disease.
