Mozy Syrup may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. It is usually given three times a day but this may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Avoid giving a double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

Mozy Syrup may cause some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if they persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor immediately.

Inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problems, skin disorders, and liver or kidney malfunction. It is effective for bacterial infections of the throat, ears, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

How Mozy Syrup works

Mozy Syrup is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. This activity stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.

Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
Only give Mozy Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
You may see white patches inside your child’s mouth and throat after a prolonged intake of Mozy Syrup. This could be due to a fungal infection. So, if your child develops any such effect, contact your doctor right away.

Mozy Syrup is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment is recommended.
However, consult with your child’s doctor before giving Mozy Syrup to your child in case of a severe form of liver disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Mozy with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Do not consume Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) two weeks before and at least 10 days after consuming Cefalexin. Please consult your doctor. Cefalexin may reduce the efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Severe

Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine (Injection Route)

Cefalexin may reduce the efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. Cefalexin may reduce the efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine.

Moderate

Zinc (Oral Route)

Ensure a gap of at least 3 hours between taking Cefalexin and Zinc. Zinc may reduce blood levels of Cefalexin.
