Lacto Suspension is a type of sugar used to treat constipation. It is known as a laxative and makes your stool easier to pass by drawing water into your bowel. It is also used to treat hepatic encephalopathy (a liver disease causing confusion, tremor, decreased level of consciousness).
Lacto Suspension can be taken with or without food. You should take this medicine as advised by your doctor. Use this medicine regularly to get the maximum benefit and try to take it at the same time(s) each day. Your dose may go up or down depending on how well it is working. Do not take more than you are advised to and, if you miss a dose, do not take an extra one to make up for it. This medicine takes at least 48 hours to work. Talk to your doctor if you are still constipated after 3 days.
The most common side effects are nausea and vomiting. These are usually mild and go away after a couple of days. Occasionally people develop serious side effects including severe diarrhea and electrolyte imbalance. Talk to your doctor straight away if you notice any of these.
Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have diabetes or if you are unable to digest milk sugar (lactose intolerant). If you use this medicine over a long period of time, your doctor may want you to have occasional blood tests to check the mineral levels (e.g. potassium and sodium). Do not take other laxative medicines while taking this medicine and check with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Constipation occurs when bowel movements become less frequent and stools are hard to pass. Lacto Suspension helps soften the stool and increases bowel movement frequency by drawing water into the intestines. This provides gentle and effective relief from constipation and improves digestive comfort.
In Treatment of Hepatic encephalopathy
Hepatic encephalopathy is a liver-related condition that affects brain function due to the buildup of toxins in the blood. Lacto Suspension helps remove these toxins, especially ammonia, through bowel movements. This helps improve mental clarity, reduces confusion, and supports better liver health and overall well-being.

Give your child more fluids. Drinking enough water and other liquids helps stools move more easily through the intestines. Serve more fiber. Make sure kids get enough exercise. Develop a regular meal schedule. Get kids into the habit of going. Many factors can contribute to constipation in children, including: ?Withholding. Your child may ignore the urge to have a bowel movement because he or she is afraid of the toilet or doesn't want to take a break from play. Some children withhold when they're away from home because they're uncomfortable using public toilets. Painful bowel movements caused by large, hard stools also may lead to withholding. If it hurts to poop, your child may try to avoid a repeat of the distressing experience. ?Toilet training issues. If you begin toilet training too soon, your child may rebel and hold in stool. If toilet training becomes a battle of wills, a voluntary decision to ignore the urge to poop can quickly become an involuntary habit that's tough to change. ?Changes in diet. Not enough fiber-rich fruits and vegetables or fluid in your child's diet may cause constipation. One of the more common times for children to become constipated is when they're switching from an all-liquid diet to one that includes solid foods. ?Changes in routine. Any changes in your child's routine ? such as travel, hot weather or stress ? can affect bowel function. Children are also more likely to experience constipation when they first start school outside of the home. ?Medications. Certain antidepressants and various other drugs can contribute to constipation. ?Cow's milk allergy. An allergy to cow's milk or consuming too many dairy products (cheese and cow's milk) sometimes leads to constipation. ?Family history. Children who have family members who have experienced constipation are more likely to develop constipation. This may be due to shared genetic or environmental factors. ?Medical conditions. Rarely, constipation in children indicates an anatomic malformation, a metabolic or digestive system problem, or another underlying condition.. Please consult me or any other Paediatrician. will take detail history and will examine patient in detail. All information will be used to determine exact underlying cause of problem. Depending upon cause will prescribe you treatment.
You should take the prescribed amount in the measuring cup or spoon that is provided with the medicine. You can take it with water or fruit juice if you find it very sweet. Drink plenty of water for better results. Swallow it as soon as you keep it in mouth to prevent tooth decay which can occur if you take it for a longer time.
