SALT INFORMATION for IPHACLAV 228.5

Amoxicillin(200 mg)

Uses

Amoxicillin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections.

How it works

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It kills the bacteria by attacking their cell wall. Specifically, it prevents the synthesis of a substance in the cell wall called peptidoglycan, which provides the cell wall with the strength required for survival of bacteria in human body.

Common side effects

Nausea, Allergic reaction, Diarrhoea, Headache, Rash, Stomach pain, Vaginal itching, Vaginal discharge, Vomiting
Potassium Clavulanate(28.5 mg)

Uses

Potassium Clavulanate is used in the treatment of bacterial infections.

How it works

Clavulanic acid competitively and irreversibly inhibits a wide variety of beta-lactamases, commonly found in microorganisms resistant to penicillins and cephalosporins. Binding and irreversibly inhibiting the beta-lactamase results in a restauration of the antimicrobial activity of beta-lactam antibiotics against lactamase-secreting-resistant bacteria. By inactivating beta-lactamase (the bacterial resistance protein), the accompanying penicillin/cephalosporin drugs may be made more potent as well.

Common side effects

Diarrhoea, Fever, Increased transaminase level in blood, Maculopapular rash, Urticaria
