Intaprost Eye Drop

Overview

Introduction

Intaprost Eye Drop is a medicine used to reduce pressure in the eyes in adults with glaucoma and high pressure in the eye. If the pressure in your eye is too high it can damage your sight, potentially leading to blindness. It works by helping fluid flow from inside the eye into the blood.

Intaprost Eye Drop is suitable for adults and children and can be used by itself or in combination with other eye medicines to reduce pressure. Follow the instructions given by your doctor and use this medicine regularly to get the most benefit. If you stop using it, pressure in the eye could increase and damage your sight. Never use a bottle if the seal is broken before you use it for the first time. Make sure you remove contact lenses if you wear them and wait for at least 15 minutes before putting them back.

The most common side effects of this medicine include conjunctival hyperemia and eye itching. If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor. They may be able to tell you ways of reducing or preventing some side effects or suggest another treatment. If your vision is blurred or you have other changes in sight for a time, do not drive until your vision is clear. This is usually a short term side effect.

Quick Tips

  • Intaprost Eye Drop helps lower high pressure in the eye and reduces the risk of vision loss.
  • For best results, put one drop once a day in the evening/night in the affected eye(s).

FAQs

Q. Does Intaprost work on eyebrows?

No, Intaprost is not made for the growth of eyebrows. This medicine is used to treat hypotrichosis (less than normal amount of hair) of the eyelashes. It promotes the growth of longer, thicker and darker eyelashes. However, some doctors may use it for eyebrows as off-label as well.

Q. How do you apply Intaprost for eyelash growth?

Intaprost is recommended to be used once every night. It should be applied to the skin of the upper eyelid at the base of eyelashes. The face should be clean and mascara and make up should be removed. It should not be applied to the lower eyelid. Use a tissue paper to blot away any excess solution or other absorbent material outside the upper eyelid margin.

Q. How long does Intaprost take for eyelash growth?

It may take about 4 weeks to see an improvement, whereas the full effect may appear after about 16 weeks. However, if you do not use regularly, then it may take a little longer.

Q. What happens if I stop using Intaprost?

If you stop using Intaprost, the eyelashes may return to previous appearance after several weeks or months. In case you have developed any eyelid skin darkening, expect it to reverse after several weeks or months. However, any change in the color of the iris is permanent and will not reverse.

Q. When to seek doctor’s advice while using Intaprost?

Contact your doctor immediately if you have eye infection, injury, conjunctivitis, eye surgery, or an eyelid reaction. Discuss with your doctor if you have to continue using Intaprost.

Q. Can I use other eye drops along with Intaprost?

If you have to use other eye drops, wait for at least 5 minutes before using them. You should inform your doctor if you are using any other medicine too as it may interfere with working of Intaprost.

Q. Why should contact lenses be removed before applying Intaprost?

It is recommended to remove the contact lenses before applying Intaprost. It is because Intaprost contains benzalkonium chloride which may get absorbed by the contact lenses and discolor them. The contact lenses can be re-inserted 15 minutes after you have applied the medicine.
