How to use Ibirest Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Take it preferably without food.
How Ibirest Tablet works
Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Clidinium works by relaxing the muscles in your stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms). In doing this, it relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort.
Ibirest Tablet related warnings
Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
As Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet may make you feel drowsy or affect your concentration and this may affect your ability to drive.
Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Ibirest 5mg/2.5mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Q. Can the use of Ibirest cause physical dependence?
Yes, Ibirest may cause physical dependence as it contains Chlordiazepoxide as one of the ingredients. Physical dependence is defined as the occurrence of a withdrawal reaction following sudden stoppage of the drug or a decrease in dose. Consult with your doctor before taking this medicine or if you need to make any change in the dose.
Q. Are there any specific contraindications to the use of Ibirest?
The use of Ibirest is not recommended in patients with known allergy to any of the component or excipients of Ibirest. Its use is also not advisable in patients of glaucoma, benign prostate enlargement and bladder neck obstruction.
Q. What precautions do I need to take while using Ibirest?
Ibirest should not be taken along with opioids like substances as it contains chlordiazepoxide. Use of opioids along with chlordiazepoxide may cause excessive sedation (state of calm or sleep), respiratory depression and eventually coma or death. Inform your doctor about all the medicines that you are taking if you are advised to take Ibirest.
Q. What are the symptoms of an overdose of Ibirest?
Symptoms with an overdose of Chlordiazepoxide+Clidinium can be either due to chlordiazepoxide or clidinium. Chlordiazepoxide can cause sleepiness, reflexes, confusion, and coma. Clidinium can cause excessive dryness of mouth, blurred vision, urinary hesitancy, and constipation. Inform the doctor in case the patient takes a higher dose and any of these symptoms appear.
Q. Can the use of Ibirest cause sleepiness or drowsiness?
Yes, Ibirest may make you feel drowsy or sleepy. Do not drive, operate any machines, work at heights, or participate in potentially dangerous activities at the start of your treatment. Inform your doctor if you experience such episodes while you are taking this medicine.
Q. Can the use of Ibirest cause constipation?
Yes, the use of Ibirest can cause constipation. Eat high-fibre foods like vegetables, fruits and cereals and drink plenty of water. Do regular exercises that you enjoy like swimming, jogging or can go for a walk. Consult a doctor if constipation persists for a long duration.
Q. What are the instructions for storage and disposal of Ibirest?
Keep this medicine in the container it came in, tightly closed. Store it as mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children, and other people.
Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Ibirest?
No, avoid drinking alcohol while you are taking Ibirest. Drinking alcohol can increase the risk of side effects like drowsiness or sleepiness.
Q. Can Ibirest cause withdrawal symptoms?
