Libratex Tablet is used in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome.

Side Effects of Libratex are Sleepiness, Nausea, Constipation, Memory impairment, Dizziness, Blurred vision, Dryness in mouth, Difficulty in urination, Coordination impaired, Depression.

How to use Libratex Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Libratex Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.
Take it preferably without food.

How Libratex Tablet works

Libratex Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain. Clidinium works by relaxing the muscles in your stomach and gut (intestine). It stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms). In doing this, it relieves cramps, pain, bloating, and discomfort.

Libratex Tablet may cause excessive drowsiness and calmness with alcohol.
Libratex Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Libratex Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
As Libratex Tablet may make you feel drowsy or affect your concentration and this may affect your ability to drive.
Libratex Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Libratex Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

If all that is normal, then you should go for stool test and if normal., this is Irritable bowel syndrome. Start a combination of Rabeprazole and Levosulpride. Also take Mebeverine for better help.

Q. Can the use of Libratex cause physical dependence?
Yes, Libratex may cause physical dependence as it contains Chlordiazepoxide as one of the ingredients. Physical dependence is defined as the occurrence of a withdrawal reaction following sudden stoppage of the drug or a decrease in dose. Consult with your doctor before taking this medicine or if you need to make any change in the dose.
Q. Are there any specific contraindications to the use of Libratex?
The use of Libratex is not recommended in patients with known allergy to any of the component or excipients of Libratex. Its use is also not advisable in patients of glaucoma, benign prostate enlargement and bladder neck obstruction.
Q. What precautions do I need to take while using Libratex?
Libratex should not be taken along with opioids like substances as it contains chlordiazepoxide. Use of opioids along with chlordiazepoxide may cause excessive sedation (state of calm or sleep), respiratory depression and eventually coma or death. Inform your doctor about all the medicines that you are taking if you are advised to take Libratex.
Q. What are the symptoms of an overdose of Libratex?
Symptoms with an overdose of Chlordiazepoxide+Clidinium can be either due to chlordiazepoxide or clidinium. Chlordiazepoxide can cause sleepiness, reflexes, confusion, and coma. Clidinium can cause excessive dryness of mouth, blurred vision, urinary hesitancy, and constipation. Inform the doctor in case the patient takes a higher dose and any of these symptoms appear.

Yes, Libratex may make you feel drowsy or sleepy. Do not drive, operate any machines, work at heights, or participate in potentially dangerous activities at the start of your treatment. Inform your doctor if you experience such episodes while you are taking this medicine.

Yes, the use of Libratex can cause constipation. Eat high-fibre foods like vegetables, fruits and cereals and drink plenty of water. Do regular exercises that you enjoy like swimming, jogging or can go for a walk. Consult a doctor if constipation persists for a long duration.

Store your medicines in a cool dry place and keep them in the original pack or container until it is time to take them. Store them out of sight and out of reach from children. Unused medicines should be disposed of in special ways to ensure that pets, children, and other people cannot consume them.

No, avoid drinking alcohol while you are taking Libratex. Drinking alcohol can increase the risk of side effects like drowsiness or sleepiness.
