Hamsyl Junior Injection is given as an injection under the medical supervision of a doctor. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

The most common side effects of this medicine include allergic reaction, rash, increased glucose level in blood, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Regular blood tests are required to check your blood cells along with heart, liver, and blood glucose levels.

Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, liver, or kidney problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your doctor know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

How Hamsyl Injection works

Hamsyl Junior Injection is an enzyme-based medicine that works by breaking down asparagine, an amino acid that certain cancer cells need to survive. Normal cells can make their own asparagine, but cancer cells, especially in blood cancers like leukemia and Hodgkin's disease, depend on external sources. Hamsyl Junior Injection depletes asparagine in the blood, starving the cancer cells and slowing or stopping their growth.

Breast feeding

CAUTION

Hamsyl Junior Injection should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from the body.

Driving

UNSAFE

Hamsyl Junior Injection may decrease alertness, affect your vision, or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

CAUTION

Hamsyl Junior Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment may be needed.

Liver

There is limited data available on the use of Hamsyl Junior Injection in patients with liver disease.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Hamsyl with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Bemiparin (Injection Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, dark urine or jaundice and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.
