Introduction

Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule is a combination of two medicines. It is prescribed to treat Tuberculosis. It fights against the bacteria to kill them.

Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule is a prescription medicine. It can be taken with or without food. Take the medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. A missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember. The course of the treatment should be completed for better efficacy.

Some of the side effects of Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule are nausea, vomiting, rashes, etc. You may also feel dizzy, thus it is advised not to drive or operate machinery. To overcome dizziness you should drink plenty of fluid. If any of the side effects get aggravated, contact your doctor immediately. In cases of severe liver or kidney disease, consult your doctor before you start with the treatment. Consumption of alcohol should be avoided while you are on the treatment.

How to use Faminex Capsule

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not chew, crush or break it. Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule is to be taken empty stomach.
Avoid Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule with tyramine-rich food such as cheese, smoked fish, meats and some types of beer.

How Faminex Capsule works

Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule is a combination of two antibiotics: Rifampicin and Isoniazid, which treats tuberculosis (TB). Rifampicin works by inactivating a bacterial enzyme (RNA-polymerase) which is required by TB bacteria to make essential proteins and to reproduce. Isoniazid prevents these bacteria from forming their own protective covering. Together, they kill the bacteria and eradicate the infection.

Consuming alcohol while taking Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Pregnancy

  • Do not take indigestion remedies (antacids)  within at least two hours of taking Faminex 450 mg/300 mg Capsule.

I have diabetes from last 6 years and from last 6 months suffering from tuberculosis too, during the treatment of TB my sugar level increasing too high (more than 300 and it?s fluctuating too much some time it?s up to 400 +). Previously I was taking oral medicine to control blood sugar but recently I putted on insulin. I am attaching the prescription/reports for more details. Please suggest me, about my treatment. Should I continue this? Can I take herbal medicine also with this also? Thanks in advance

Yes, Faminex can change the color of your urine (skin, sweat, saliva, tears and feces) to brownish-red or orange. This effect is not harmful.

Q. Does the use of Faminex make birth control pills ineffective?

Yes, Faminex can make birth control pills less effective. So, ask the doctor about using a birth control method which does not affect your hormone levels (such as a condom, diaphragm and spermicide).
