How to use Esodoc Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Esodoc 40 mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Esodoc Tablet works

Esodoc 40 mg Tablet is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach which helps in relief of acid related indigestion and heartburn.

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Esodoc 40 mg Tablet.
Pregnancy

Esodoc 40 mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Esodoc 40 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
Esodoc 40 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Esodoc 40 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Esodoc 40 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any kidney disease.
Liver
Esodoc 40 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Esodoc 40 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Esodoc Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Esodoc 40 mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

    • Avoid eating late at night or before bedtime.
       
  • Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever or stomach pain that does not go away.
  • Long-term use can cause weak bones and deficiency of minerals such as magnesium. Take adequate dietary intake of calcium and magnesium or their supplements as prescribed by your doctor.

Esodoc can be taken by a patient undergoing dialysis in a manner as prescribed by the doctor. This is extensively bound to proteins in the body, so, it is not expected to be removed by dialysis.

Q. Can I take Esodoc with domperidone?

Esodoc can be taken with domperidone. Esodoc decreases the acid secretion and domperidone increases the gut motility and helps in reducing nausea and vomiting.

Q. Is Esodoc available over the counter?

No, Esodoc is not available as an over-the-counter product. It is a prescription medicine and is available only when prescribed by a physician.

Q. Can I take Esodoc with aluminum hydroxide and magnesium carbonate or other antacids?

Esodoc can be taken with antacids like aluminum hydroxide and magnesium carbonate. However, antacids should be taken two hours before or one hour after taking Esodoc. This is because the other antacids can interfere with the effec of Esodoc when they are taken simultaneously.
