Eriquin 200mg Tablet is an antiparasitic medicine. It is used for the treatment of malaria. It works by killing the malaria-causing parasites and reduces their number in your body. This way it stops the infection from spreading.

Eriquin 200mg Tablet is generally given in combination with another antimalarial medicine. Take Eriquin 200mg Tablet in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Take it with food to decrease the risk of stomach upset. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early can result in treatment failure and increase the side effects too.

Take measures, such as using insect repellent creams on parts of your body not covered by clothing, to reduce the chance of being bitten by mosquitoes. Spray mosquito repellant to kill any mosquitoes that may have entered rooms in spite of screening. Wear light-colored and covered clothing when you are outside after sunset.

Some of the common side effects of this medicine include weakness, headache, dizziness, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, and itching. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects bother you or get worse. They may be able to suggest ways to reduce or treat the side effects.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions such as kidney and liver diseases, problems with your heart, high blood pressure, or low levels of white blood cells. Let your doctor also know about all the medicines you are taking to make sure it is safe for you. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before taking this medicine.

In Malaria

Malaria is a serious or life-threatening illness that is spread by a parasite that enters the human body by the bite of infected mosquitoes. Eriquin 200mg Tablet effectively treats malaria. However, this medicine should not be used to prevent malaria or to treat severe cases of malaria.

Take it as advised by the doctor. Refrain from taking any other medicines or antacids along with this medicine (unless advised by the doctor) as they may affect the absorption of this medicine. Do not use this medicine for treating any other condition without consulting your doctor.

What if you forget to take Eriquin Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Eriquin 200mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Use of Eriquin 200mg Tablet should be avoided if you are allergic to Eriquin 200mg Tablet or any of its components or if. However, if you are not aware of any allergy or if you are using Eriquin 200mg Tablet for the first time, consult your doctor. It should also be avoided in case of severe liver disease, if you have ever suffered from sudden high fevers, shaking, severe sore throat or ulcers in the mouth during treatment with Eriquin 200mg Tablet earlier or if you have an eye disease with damage to your retina.

Q. Can Eriquin 200mg Tablet be used during pregnancy?

No this medicine should not be used during pregnancy without medical advice particularly during the first 3 months of pregnancy. If you learn that you are pregnant during the treatment, consult your doctor.

Some of the serious side-effects of Eriquin 200mg Tablet are low white blood cell count (which can make you more prone to infections), liver disease and eye disorders.

Q. How long does it take for malaria symptoms to show?

Symptoms of malaria can develop as quickly as 7 days after you are bitten by an infected mosquito. Usually, the symptoms may take upto 7 to 18 days to appear (incubation periods) from the day of the infection. Initial symptoms of malaria are flu-like which include feeling hot and shivery, fever, muscle pains, vomiting, headaches and diarrhea.

Q. How can you prevent yourself from getting malaria?

Malaria can be prevented by taking certain precautionary steps like covering your arms and legs to prevent mosquito bites, using mosquito net and insect repellent. Check with your doctor whether you need to take malaria prevention tablets. If you do, make sure you take the right antimalarial tablets at the right dose, and finish the proper course of treatment.
