Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Empacor-M Tablet may be taken with or without food.

How Empacor-M Tablet works

Empacor-M Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Empagliflozin and Metformin. Empagliflozin works by removing excess glucose from your body through urine. Metformin works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying glucose absorption from intestines and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. Together, they lower blood glucose more effectively.

Quick tips

  • You have been prescribed this combination medicine as it can control blood sugar better than metformin alone.
  • It also reduces the risk of heart attack, heart failure or other cardiovascular events.
  • You should continue to exercise regularly, eat a healthy diet, and take your other diabetes medicines (if prescribed) along with Empacor-M Tablet.
  • Take it with food to lower your chance of having an upset stomach.
  • Practice good genital hygiene to prevent yeast or urinary tract infections
  • It may cause your body to lose too much fluid (dehydration) or you to urinate more often. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
  • It can cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or if you delay or miss a meal. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly.
  • Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremor, and anxious feeling.

Frequently asked questions

Empacor-M Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat type 2 diabetes. Along with a proper diet and regular exercise, it helps improve blood sugar control in adults. It works by enhancing the body’s ability to use insulin effectively, thereby lowering blood sugar levels.
People should not take Empacor-M Tablet if they have severe kidney failure (eGFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), during diabetic pre-coma, with active ketoacidosis or lactic acidosis, in severe liver disease, in acute conditions that reduce oxygen to tissues (such as decompensated heart failure or shock), or with a known allergy to either ingredient present in it.
Seek emergency help if you experience serious side effects of Empacor-M Tablet, such as signs of lactic acidosis (trouble breathing, stomach pain, severe weakness, confusion, vomiting), or diabetic ketoacidosis (nausea, vomiting, belly pain, deep breathing, unusual fatigue, fruity breath).
Yes, empagliflozin medicine present in Empacor-M Tablet increases urination and can lead to dehydration and low blood pressure, especially in older adults or with diuretics. Kidney function should be checked before starting and periodically during treatment, and more often if kidney function is at risk.
Yes, urinary tract infections (including kidney infection and sepsis) and genital infections can occur during Empacor-M Tablet treatment. Very rare cases of a serious genital area infection called Fournier’s gangrene need urgent surgery and antibiotics. Seek care for pain, swelling, redness in the genital/perineal area with fever or feeling unwell.
Empacor-M Tablet alone has a low risk of hypoglycaemia, but the risk increases when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. A dose reduction of insulin or sulfonylurea may be needed to lower the risk of low blood sugar.
