Introduction of Elstatin Tablet

Elstatin 10 mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat high cholesterol. This medicine helps by lowering "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (fats). It may be used with some other medicines to treat and reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Lifestyle changes like low-fat diet, exercise, and not smoking may help this medicine to work better. It may cause diarrhea as a side effect, so take this medicine with food. Monitor your blood sugar level regularly as it may increase blood sugar. Stomach pain, constipation, muscle pain, and weakness are some other side effects associated with this medicine.

How Elstatin Tablet works

Elstatin 10 mg Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Alcohol

It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Elstatin 10 mg Tablet.
Pregnancy
CAUTION
Elstatin 10 mg Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the fetus. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Elstatin 10 mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
SAFE
Elstatin 10 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
SAFE
Elstatin 10 mg Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Elstatin 10 mg Tablet is recommended.
However, talk to your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. Cautious dose adjustment is advised in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
There is limited information available on the use of Elstatin 10 mg Tablet in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.

What if you miss a dose of Elstatin Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Elstatin 10 mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
