Elava 2000IU Injection is used to treat anemia in people with chronic kidney disease (long-term serious kidney disease). It works by stimulating the stem cells of the bone marrow to increase red blood cells production. This way it helps to reverse anemia.

Elava 2000IU Injection is generally given by a doctor or a nurse. Do not self-administer this medicine at home. The dose depends on your body weight and the severity of your condition. Get the injection regularly until you completed the dose. Iron supplements both before and during treatment may make this treatment more effective.
Use of this medicine may cause some common side effects such as headache, diarrhea, body aches, and vomiting. These side effects persist or get worse, let your doctor know. They may be able to suggest ways to prevent or treat them.
Before using the medicine, tell your doctor if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or gout (disease of joint pain). You should also tell him/her what other medicines you are taking in case they affect this treatment. Your blood pressure should be checked often during this treatment by you or your doctor. You may also need other regular medical tests to be sure this medicine is not causing harmful effects. It is not known whether this medicine will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Taking Elava with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects
Moderate
Thalidomide (Oral Route)
If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, unusual paleness, easy bruising or bleeding and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations. Thalidomide may increase the metabolism of Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta.
Moderate
Lenalidomide (Oral Route)
If concurrent use is essential, your doctor may monitor your treatment and adjust the doses as per the observations.
Moderate
Pomalidomide (Oral Route)
If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as unusual bleeding, swelling in one leg or arm, new or worsening chest pain or sudden shortness of breath and consult your doctor if you experience them. They may adjust the doses as per the observations.
Mild
Telmisartan (Oral Route)
Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure and potassium levels during the simultaneous use of these medicines. Telmisartan may reduce efficacy of Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta.

Losartan (Oral Route)
Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure and potassium levels during the simultaneous use of these medicines. Losartan may reduce efficacy of Methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta.
