Deferoxamine(250 mg)

Uses

Defrijet 250 mg tablet is used in the treatment of iron overload and transfusion dependent thalassemia.

How it works

Defrijet 250 mg tablet has a high affinity for ferric iron and forms chelates or stable water-soluble complexes with iron and other trivalent metal ions eg, aluminum. It removes free and bound iron from haemosiderin and ferritin, increasing the excretion of iron in urine and bile.

Common side effects

Blue colored lips, Blue colour of skin, Blurred vision, Convulsion, Shortness of breath, Flushing, Hearing disorder, Skin rash, Skin redness, Tachycardia
