Comptil 12.5mg Injection is given by your doctor or nurse. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should take this medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

Limited information is available on the common side effects of this medicine; however, some individuals may experience drowsiness, dizziness, amenorrhea, blurred vision, skin reactions, or hypotension. In rare cases, serious conditions such as Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) have been reported with this medicine. If you notice persistent or severe symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.

Before taking this medicine you should let your doctor know if you have jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), epilepsy, muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis), an underactive thyroid gland, increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma), enlarged prostate gland, liver, kidney, and heart problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor. Inform the doctor if you have ever abused alcohol.

Comptil 12.5mg Injection is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting.
It may also be used to treat dizziness associated with problems of the inner ear such as Meniere’s Syndrome.
It may cause sleepiness. Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.
To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
Avoid consuming alcohol when taking the Comptil 12.5mg Injection as it may cause excessive drowsiness.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Comptil with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Life-threatening

Iopamidol (Injection Route)

Do not consume Prochlorperazine 48 hours before and At least 12 hours after consuming Iopamidol.

Life-threatening

Iohexol (Injection Route)

Do not consume Prochlorperazine 48 hours before and At least 24 hours after consuming Iohexol.

Severe

Moxifloxacin (Oral Route)

Do not consume Moxifloxacin with Prochlorperazine. If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as muscle spasms, tremors, tiredness, nausea, reduced appetite, palpitations, or numbness. Your doctor may monitor your heart functioning regularly.

Severe

Lithium carbonate (Oral Route)

If concurrent use is essential, watch out for symptoms such as double vision, weakness, dizziness, impaired coordination, or confusion and consult your doctor if you experience them. Your doctor may monitor your ECG frequently and discontinue the medicines if required. Prochlorperazine may increase the rate of release of Lithium carbonate in the blood.
