How to use Ceremax Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Ceremax Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Ceremax Tablet works

Ceremax Tablet is a nootropic medicine. It works by increasing the activity of a chemical messenger (acetylcholine) which improves communication between the nerve cells. It also protects the brain and nervous system against shortness of oxygen.

CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Ceremax Tablet.
Pregnancy
PROBABLY SAFE
Ceremax Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the fetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
No information is available on the use of Ceremax Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
Do not drive unless you are feeling well.
Ceremax Tablet may cause drowsiness and shakiness. This may affect your driving ability.
Kidney
CAUTION
Ceremax Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Ceremax Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Ceremax Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
Ceremax Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Ceremax Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Expert Advice

  • Do not take piracetam tablet/oral solution if you are allergic to piracetam, pyrolidone derivatives or any other ingredient of tablet/solution.
  • Do not use piracetam if you have serious kidney problem; brain hemorrhage or bleeding problems; or Huntington’s disease (neurodegenerative genetic disorder that affects muscle coordination and leads to behavioral symptoms).
  • Avoid using piracetam if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
  • Do not stop taking piracetam tablet/solution unless your doctor asks you to do so.
  • Do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you experience side effects like sleepiness, nervousness and depression after taking piracetam.

Dementia involves damage of nerve cells in the brain, which can occur in several areas of the brain. Dementia affects people differently, depending on the area of the brain affected. Most types of dementia can't be cured, but there are ways to manage the behavioural symptoms. A neurological and psychiatric evaluation is required to make a rehabilitation plan for such patients.

Q. If I do not see an improvement in my symptoms, can I stop taking Ceremax?

No, do not stop taking Ceremax on your own. Stopping it suddenly may have unwanted effects like twitching and jerking movements. If Ceremax does not improve your symptoms, consult your doctor. The doctor may suggest a slow reduction of Ceremax dose.

Q. Who should avoid taking Ceremax?

You should not take Ceremax if you are allergic to Ceremax or any of the ingredients in the medicine. Also, avoid taking Ceremax if your kidney functions are severely deranged or if you ever had localized bleeding in the brain (cerebral hemorrhage). You should also avoid taking this medicine if you are suffering from Huntington’s disease/chorea (a genetic disorder where the brain cells die quickly causing deterioration of mental and physical abilities over time).

Q. What is the correct way of taking Ceremax?

Ceremax can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablets as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break or chew the tablets. If you find it difficult to swallow, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Your doctor may prescribe Ceremax in the form of a solution.
