Broxin Oral Drops may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. It is usually given three times a day but this may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Avoid giving a double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

Broxin Oral Drops may cause some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if they persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor immediately.

Broxin Oral Drops is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Contact your doctor if your child has diarrhea that goes on for more than 4 days or if it is severe and watery, or contains blood.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.

Taking Broxin with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine (Injection Route)

Cefalexin may reduce the efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. Cefalexin may reduce the efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine.

Severe

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Do not consume Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) two weeks before and at least 10 days after consuming Cefalexin. Please consult your doctor. Cefalexin may reduce the efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Moderate

Zinc (Oral Route)

Ensure a gap of at least 3 hours between taking Cefalexin and Zinc. Zinc may reduce blood levels of Cefalexin.
