ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET is an antibiotic medicine that is given to children for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections associated with the ear, nose, throat, tonsils, lungs, and skin. It may also be prescribed as a second line of treatment for urinary tract infections.


ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET may be given with or without food. However, if your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. It is usually given three times a day but this may vary depending on the type and severity of the infection. Stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of taking this medicine, give the same dose again. Avoid giving a double dose if it is almost time for the next dose.

ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET may cause some minor and temporary side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your child’s body adapts to the medicine. However, if they persist or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor immediately.

Inform the doctor about your child’s complete medical history, including any previous episode of allergy, heart problems, blood disorders, birth defects, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problems, skin disorders, and liver or kidney malfunction. ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET is an antibiotic medicine that works by killing the infection-causing bacteria in your body. It is effective for bacterial infections of the throat, ears, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues. This medicine usually makes you feel better within a few days, but you should continue taking it as prescribed even when you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET does not pose serious side effects and is well-tolerated by children. In case the side effects do occur, they’re likely to subside once the body adapts to the medicine. Consult your child’s doctor if these side effects persist or bother your child. The most common side effects include-

How Alcephin Tablet works

ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. This activity stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Quick tips

  • Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply, become resistant, or cause another infection.
  • Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
  • Contact your doctor if your child has diarrhea that goes on for more than 4 days or if it is severe and watery, or contains blood.
  • Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. This medicine is not to be taken in such cases.
  • Only give ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.
  • Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child’s doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
  • You may see white patches inside your child’s mouth and throat after a prolonged intake of ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET. This could be due to a fungal infection. So, if your child develops any such effect, contact your doctor right away.
  • Your doctor has prescribed ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET to cure your infection and improve your symptoms.
  • Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection to come back and harder to treat.
  • Discontinue ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of face and mouth, or have difficulty in breathing.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
  • Your doctor has prescribed ALCEPHIN KID 125 MG TABLET to cure your infection and improve your symptoms.
