Product introduction

Aerotide Inhaler is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, headache,and cough. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It may cause sleepiness and dizziness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have any kidney or liver diseases so that your doctor can prescribe a suitable dose for you. You should also tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Treatment of Asthma
Aerotide Inhaler works by reducing and preventing swelling and inflammation in the lungs. It prevents the symptoms of asthma, such as tightness in chest, wheezing, breathlessness, and coughing. This allows you to carry out daily activities more easily and confidently.

It may take a few weeks for Aerotide Inhaler to show full effects. Keep taking it regularly as prescribed even if you do not have any symptoms (this means it is working). Do not stop taking it unless the doctor advises you to, otherwise you are more likely to suffer from symptoms. This medicine will not stop an asthma attack that has already started.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

How to use Aerotide Inhaler

Check the label for directions before use. Shake the inhaler. While you are breathing in from mouth, press down on the inhaler one time to release the medication and hold your breath for 10 seconds. Repeat until you have inhaled the number of puffs as suggested by the doctor.Afterwards, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and spit it out.

How Aerotide Inhaler works

Aerotide Inhaler is a combination of two medicines: Salbutamol and Beclometasone. Salbutamol is a bronchodilator which works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens the airways. Beclometasone is a steroid. It acts by stopping the release of certain natural substances in body that are responsible for inflammation (swelling) of the airways. Together, they make breathing easier.

Quick tips

  • Aerotide Inhaler is for inhalation only. The tablet should not be swallowed.
  • Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
  • Gargle with warm water after each inhalation to avoid any fungal infections in your mouth and throat.
  • Take the first dose of this medicine under medical supervision as it may cause wheezing or tightening of the airways (bronchospasm) immediately after using.
