Ultrasound Scrotal
Understanding Ultrasound Scrotal
What is Ultrasound Scrotal?
Ultrasound Scrotal test is a painless and non-invasive imaging procedure. It uses sound waves to create pictures of the testicles, epididymis and surrounding structures within the scrotum. Scrotum is a flesh-covered sac that is situated between the legs at the base of the penis and contains the testicles. The scan helps doctors in checking for swelling, pain, lump, or other issues within the scrotum.
Doctors recommend the Ultrasound Scrotal to individuals complaining of scrotal pain and swelling. It helps to check the cyst/tumor in scrotum, size and symmetry of testicles, lump in one or both of the testicles, reason for pain in the testicles and abnormal blood flows in the testicles caused by testicular torsion. It is also recommended to determine the cause of infertility in males.
It can also help find infections like epididymitis or orchitis. The test can detect fluid build-up such as hydrocele. It is useful to track changes in known scrotal problems.
